Living Grateful #15

Hi guys! I am very sorry I’ve been so slack with these posts recently. It’s been a busy time with going away, Christmas and lots of revision. I hope you have all had wonderful Christmasses and now a very happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s now 2017!! It still feels like yesterday that I was writing my first one of this series in August.

Anyway I thought I would do a quick round up of 5 things I have been most grateful for over the last few weeks. This has actually been really hard to collate as I’ve done so many nice things! But here goes…

 

1. Going to Edinburgh

I had the best time in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago. It really was one of the best weekends of the year! I had a wonderful reunion with some amazing friends as well as got to explore the city of Edinburgh which I love!

 

2. Spending time with family

Christmas for me is always about getting to spend quality time with family that you don’t get to do at other times of the year. This year was no different and it was  so nice to have a chilled few days.

 

3. Going to the Royal Albert Hall

Carols by Candlelight is definitely a highlight of my year so going again this Christmas Eve was so exciting! You can read all about my festive trips here

 

4. Spending time with friends

I don’t get to see some of my friends very often as we are all so busy so I always appreciate when I see them so much more. Going to the carols with Soorin was no different!

 

5. My cats!

I’ve been home over the past week which means I’ve had lots of cuddles with the cats. I absolutely love waking up to them, even if it does mean I’m slightly delayed getting up as it seems so much nicer to stay in bed with them!

Living Grateful #13

Hi guys! It has been a couple of weeks since I have done one of these posts. It has been quite a busy time, I think it will be hectic until the festive periods are finished. I love being busy and it’s been so nice to see lots of friends. I have also managed lots of chilled time watching I’m a Celeb though… who else is watching it?

  1. A night out with Scott

Last weekend I went out for the first time in what feels like forever (I’ve definitely turned into a massive granny!) It was really nice to go out for once! Plus I had nothing planned for the following day and so I had a lovely lazy Sunday filled with catching up on TV and baking.

2. Dinner at Kimchee

I had dinner with one of my best friends and my parents at Kimchee on Wednesday week. I go to Uni opposite the restaurant and it looks so pretty from the outside I was glad I could go in! It was so nice catching up with my parents and friend as well!

3. Some time at home

I’ve spent a couple of nights at home over the past few weeks and it’s been so nice to be able to chill. I’ve spent time with my cats, gone for long walks in the park and taken full advantage of my parent’s nespresso machine – what’s not to love?!

4. Winter Wonderland

I went to Winter Wonderland on Saturday night with one of my best friends – it was amazing! I’ve seen so many photos of it on social media across this week and wondered if it would live up to my expectations but it definitely has done! There were so many fantastic food stalls (including gluten free & vegan crepes!!!), as well as beautiful lights and markets. I’m not a big one for rides so they didn’t appeal to me – they made me quite ill just looking at them! It was a bit chilly but you honestly can’t beat that feeling of coming home after an evening out in the cold and warming up with a cup of tea!

5. A day out in Brighton

I went down to Brighton today for a catch up with a friend. We had an incredible roast dinner for lunch and a lovely wander around Brighton. It really couldn’t have been a better end to my week!

Living Grateful #12

Hi gang! I’m going to give myself a little pat on the back this evening as I have finally managed two Living Grateful posts in a row… anyway, enough about my disorganisation, onto what I have been grateful for this week.

  1. Mindfulness class

I’ve spoken about how I’ve been getting more into mindfulness here before and I went to a class this week on compassion. It was really good to go to another class and my mind felt so much calmer for it.

2. Kitten time

I had this little cutie stay with me for 4 days this week. She is so unbelievably cute and at only 8 weeks she was so tiny! She was the most loving cat I’ve ever come across.

3. Going to Pizza Express with Scott

Okay so I might have spoken about my love of Pizza Express a tad too much on this blog. BUT I went again this week with Scott and it was just incredible. I even found out they do gluten free dough balls with balsamic vinegar & olive oil instead of garlic butter – amazing!!

4. Having a roast with Mum and Dad

Mum and Dad came up and cooked me a roast dinner (the best parents ever, right?!). You seriously can’t beat my dad’s roast potatoes!! It made letting go of my cats a little easier!

5. Having a relaxing Sunday

The last few weekends have been massively hectic so it was so nice to have a chilled Sunday today. I had a massive lie in, drank coffee in bed and caught up on loads of blogs!

Living Grateful #11

Okay so I have yet another apology to make this week guys… I am so sorry it has been another 2 week gap between my Living Grateful posts. The past two weeks have been amazing, leaving me with that fuzzy heart warmed feeling. I’ve spent an amazing week in Spain and spent some quality time with friends and family. There really isn’t anything better is there?

So here goes, these are just 5 of the things I have been grateful for over the last fortnight, but honestly I think there could be 50 instead!

  1. Spending a week in Cádiz with mum

I feel like this photo doesn’t do how pretty Cádiz was justice. It was absolutely beautiful and we managed to get some sun towards the end of the week. It was also so nice to spend a lengthy amount of time with Mum as I don’t get to see her enough anymore.

 

2. Having a beach day in Cádiz

I feel like walking through the sea and along the beach was exactly what I needed to clear my head ready for the exams I have had in the past week and also for the rest of term. There really isn’t anything better than walking along the beach and looking out to sea!

 

3. Enjoying the Autumn colours

I’ve been loving Autumn in London this week. I’ve been for quite a few walks along the river and this was by Surrey Water. I just couldn’t get over how beautiful the colours of the trees were with the blue sky and Canary Wharf in the background!

 

4. Having my cats to visit

My parents went away for a week this past week and gave me the cats to look after in the flat. Being the crazy cat lady I am, I have absolutely LOVED having them to stay. It really has been the best. Cat cuddles make everything better! There were a lot of tears saying goodbye to them tonight…

 

5. Bonfire Night with the best friends ever

Last night I went out to Sevenoaks for Bonfire Night. There was a torchlight procession through the town and the most amazing fireworks display – including Let It Go from Frozen which totally made my night! It felt so good to get out of London and spend some quality time with my best friends. I feel so fuzzy and warm after such a brilliant weekend.

Living Grateful #10

Hi guys! This week has been a hectic week for me as it was the last week before Reading Week. It’s always one of the hardest weeks of the term as everyone is exhausted. This week has been a lot quieter compared to the last few weeks as I have been dedicating more time to studying for upcoming exams.

However I’m writing this from Cádiz in Spain where I have escaped to with mum for a couple of days. It’s not exactly the blue skies and sun we were hoping for (more like torrential rain and very wet feet) but it’s really nice to have a change of scenery in such a beautiful place. 

So here it is, 5 things I have been grateful for this week…

1. Heading out to Cádiz & spending time with mum

Of course this has to come top of my list this week. It was so nice to get on a plane this morning to have a little break. I also haven’t seen mum for a good length of time in what feels like forever so it’s so nice to know that we have a few days to properly catch up with eachother.

2. Beautiful new scenery 

Even though it’s been raining today (I’m hoping the weather will pick up before Thursday!) we’ve found some beautiful little places in Cádiz so far! Including this amazing tree… 

3. A lush bath

I do have to admit that despite the love of lush that fills the internet on a daily basis I have never ever had a bath with a lush bath bomb. Well I rectified that this week and finally had one! It was definitely relaxing although I did end up covered in glitter for the rest of the day and so did my bath!!

4. An amazing rainbow

It is true that the little things in life are what make you happy sometimes. I haven’t seen a rainbow in years so seeing this from my balcony this week was amazing. 


5. This view 

I think you all know by now that I love a good view so I had to end this post with a photo of the view from the top of the hotel we are staying in. Absolute heaven!!

Living Grateful #9

Hi Guys! I have an apology to make to you all.. I am so sorry for missing last week’s post. I had a massively busy weekend and I ended up too exhausted on Sunday night to even string a sentence together. I thought it best I didn’t put you through reading a completely incoherent post and instead amalgamate two amazing weeks together in one post.

The last couple of weeks have been really hectic but brilliant. So here are 5 things I am grateful for this week. It’s been so easy to put this together thanks to an amazing time with friends and family.

  1. Spending time with friends

I’ve managed to see quite a few friends this week and I have absolutely loved it. From breakfast at the Good Life Eatery to dinner by Tower Bridge it’s been so good to catch up with friends who I always come away feeling so positive from. Much love to my incredible friends, I feel like they need lots of heart emojis to be sent their way!

2. Going to the Young Vic with Scott

Last Saturday night I took Scott to see A Man of Good Hope at the Young Vic. It was an incredible performance about a Somali Refugee. It was really well portrayed and also so relevant to the current refugee crisis.

3. Going to the Fabulous Night In and meeting Giovanna Fletcher

I am a massive fan of Giovanna Fletcher, both of her blogs and her youtube so it was brilliant to get to go to a q&a with her and a couple of other authors on Tuesday night. It was at the News Building in London Bridge which had a fantastic view across London. I certainly enjoyed the view with my free glass of wine!! I also just had to get a photo with her as I was so so over excited to meet her!

4. Discovering Pizza Express have gluten free pizzas (and they are actually good!)

This has been such a life changing find for me (yes I know I am obsessed with food.) I went to Pizza Express quite a few years ago and I wasn’t blown away with their pizzas. HOWEVER, I tried one last week and they must have changed their recipe or something because oh my gosh it was incredible. So much so I’ve been 3 times in the last 2 weeks, oops… I’m going again tomorrow as well…

5. Enjoying the view across London

I’ve done a fair bit of walking through London in the last couple of weeks and I have turned into a massive tourist taking as many photos as possible. Walking over Waterloo bridge really doesn’t ever get old. I’m also so lucky to live somewhere where I have a fantastic view across London just a couple of minutes away. I just can’t get over how amazing London looks!

Living Grateful #8

Hi everyone! How have you been this week? I can’t believe I’ve been doing this for 2 months now (save for a couple of weeks off when life got a bit too hectic! But in a good way of course..)

This week has been incredibly busy but I’ve had a really good week, putting aside the couple of ribs that decided to pop out of place *insert eye roll emoji here*

Here are 5 things I’ve been grateful for this week. I’m loving being able to look back on the week in a positive way and reframe my state of mind ready for the week ahead.

1. Going to the theatre

I’ve been to two theatre performances this week. One was The Good Canary at the Rose Theatre, it was an incredible performance and well worth the standing ovation it got! I also saw The Plough and the Stars at the National Theatre which was incredible – some amazing acting! I love going to the theatre and it’s been so nice to get back into going.

2. Going for dinner with my dad and Uncle

I went for dinner with my dad and Uncle at The Wharf on Southbank on Tuesday, it was so good to catch up with them and also they were so good at accommodating my allergies which is always amazing!

3. Going home for a couple of days

I went home for a few days this week and it was so lovely to be at home and spend time with all my family. Sometimes I just feel like that’s what you need, especially after a week of suffering a little bit with my back! Cat cuddles are known to fix everything after all!!!

4. Dinner party with friends

This was the best Friday night I’ve had in a long time. So good catching up with friends!

5. Spending time with my grandparents

My grandparents came and visited my new flat today and it was so nice to see them as it feels like I haven’t seen them in ages. We chilled in the flat for a while and then went to the local pub for a roast dinner – the best way to finish off a weekend!
